Biography

Soprano Eva Esterková is a graduate of the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague, where she studied with doc. Helena Kaupová.

She made her theatrical debut in 2012, in the role of Eliška Pomořanská in the musical Noc na Karlštejně. Thanks to this performance she was invited to perform in many Czech theatres.

Her roles include Susanna and Barbarina in Le Nozze di Figaro by W. A. Mozart, Zerlina in Don Giovanni, Blonde in Die Entführung aus den Serail, Pamina First Lady and Papagena in Die Zauberflöte by W. A. Mozart, Leila in Les Pêscheurs de Perles by G. Bizet, Esmeralda in The Bartered Bride and Harvester in Libuše by B. Smetana, Cristel in Die Vogelhändler by C. Zeller, First Sprite and Kitchen Boy in Rusalka by A. Dvořák, Anna in Nabucco by G. Verdi, Serpina in La Serva Padrona by G. B. Pergolesi, Anna Franková in monoopera by G. Frid and Oberto in Alcina by G. F. Händel.

In 2017, she debuted at the National Theatre in Prague in the role of Barbarina. In 2018, to mark the centenary of the founding of Czechoslovakia, Eva sang the role of Harvester in Libuše by Bedřich Smetana. She also performed the role of Zerlina in Don Giovanni for the National Theatre at the Estates Theatre.

Her international performances include Susanna and Barbarina in Le Nozze di Figaro, Anna in Nabucco, Kitchen Boy in Rusalka and Serpina in La Serva Padrona.

Eva has participated in many masterclasses with opera’s greatest artists, such as Eda Moser, Susan Bullock, Gabriela Beňačková, Kateřina Kněžíková, Adam Plachetka, Markéta Cukrová, Bojidar Nikolov, Eva Randová, Peter Valentovič, Ewa Biegas, Paul Wynne Griffiths and many more.

One of her biggest achievements was placing 2nd in the International Antonín Dvořák singing competition in Carlsbad. She also received a special prize from the National Theatre in Brno and the Jarmila Novotná Prize.

In the season 2021/2022 Eva has her debut in National theatre in Brno. There she is the part of production of Händel’s Alcina together with baroque orchestra Collegium 1704 and under the baton of Václav Luks. Then she is invited back to National theatre Brno to sing Terinka in Dvořák’s Jakobín, Pamina and Papagena in Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte, Ladybug in Ferdy the Ant by Evžen Zámečník, Despinio in Martinů’s The Greek Passion, Modistin in Strauss’ Die Rosencavalier, Esmeralda in Bartered bride by Bedřich Smetana, etc.
